This was the beginning of my Malaysia trip, and even before I landed in Kuala Lumpur, I could feel that Day 1 was going to be special.
Taking Off from Techo Airport
I started my journey at Techo International Airport, the new airport in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Everything felt fresh and modern, and it honestly made the trip feel a little bit more glamorous than usual.

My flight from Techo International Airport to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) took about two hours. I spent most of that time looking out the window and thinking, โWow, Iโm really going to Malaysia.โ
Hello, Malaysia
After landing at KLIA, I joined the line at immigration, still half tired but fully excited. Once I got my passport stamped and collected my luggage, it finally hit me that I was actually here.

The arrivals hall was busy but organized, and everything was clearly marked, so I didnโt feel lost at all. I followed the signs out and got ready to find my ride into the city.
Getting to the Hotel: Why I Recommend Grab
From KLIA, I booked a Grab taxi straight to my hotel. I honestly recommend Grab to anyone traveling in Malaysia itโs convenient, safe, and surprisingly affordable, even for a long ride from the airport.

The drive from KLIA to the hotel took around one hour. As we got closer to the city, I watched the highways, buildings, and lights slowly change, feeling more and more curious about what Kuala Lumpur would be like.
WT Stay Swiss Garden: Hotel in Bukit Bintang
I checked into WT Stay Swiss Garden Residence KL, which is in Bukit Bintang. The location is so convenient malls, marts, street food, and even Chinatown are all nearby, which is perfect for someone who loves to walk and explore.

The biggest surprise was the view from my room. When I looked out the window and saw Merdeka 118 glowing green and gold against the night sky, I literally froze and just stared I never imagined Iโd be this close to the second tallest building in the world.
After resting for a bit and soaking in that incredible skyline, my stomach reminded me it was time for dinner. Luckily, I didnโt have to go far.
First Dinner: Sun San Curry at LaLaport
I walked about 10 minutes from the hotel to LaLaport BBCC, a modern and stylish mall very close by. The walk itself felt safe and easy, and soon I was standing in front of this huge, bright shopping complex.

Inside the mall, I chose Sun San Curry for my first meal in Malaysia. I ordered the Japanese curry omurice a soft egg omelette over rice, covered in rich curry sauce with beef on top.

It was honestly so delicious the curry was thick and flavorful, the egg was silky, and the beef was tender. I finished everything and felt completely satisfied.
Walking the Night Away
After dinner, I walked around the mall to digest and explore. My favorite part was the outdoor area, where people were just relaxing and enjoying the cool night air.

There were tables outside, fairy lights and blue neon tubes hanging overhead, and a calm, cozy atmosphere. I walked slowly, taking my time, just soaking in the lights, the sounds, and the feeling of being in a new city.
This was only my first day in Malaysia, but I already felt genuinely excited and happy to be here. I went back to my hotel with tired feet, a full stomach, and a heart that couldnโt wait to see what the rest of this trip would bring. ๐
