Sunway Pyramid & Sunway Square: Two Malls, One Epic Day in Kuala Lumpur

One of my favourite days in Kuala Lumpur was this one a full day exploring two massive malls in the Sunway area! Sunway Pyramid and Sunway Square Mall are about 20 to 30 minutes by car from my hotel at Swiss Garden Residence, but trust me, it is absolutely worth the trip. 🚗

Sunway Pyramid Mall 🏛️

When I arrived at Sunway Pyramid, I was already hungry, so the first thing I did was look for something to eat. I spotted a Chinese noodle soup place on the G floor that I had seen reviewed on YouTube so of course I had to try it!

There are many flavours to choose from and the taste is really good, especially if you enjoy bold flavours. You can pick your meat too lamb, beef, chicken, and more so there is something for everyone. The price is also very reasonable depending on what you choose. I really enjoyed it! 😋

After eating, I started exploring the mall and wow it is massive! Sunway Pyramid has so many floors and so much to see. The interior has a beautiful Egyptian theme with high ceilings and grand architecture that makes it feel like a very special place just to walk around.

There is everything here local brands, international brands, food, shopping, entertainment. For someone like me who was just wandering around for the first time, it was truly a wow experience. One highlight I noticed was the ice skating rink, which was packed with people of all ages having a great time!

I did not skate (I have no idea how! 😄) but it was fun just watching everyone enjoy themselves. I also found this lovely fragrance shop with beautiful glass diffusers in all kinds of scents.

From one of the walkways I also got a great view of Sunway Lagoon theme park right next door!

Sunway Square Mall & Sunway South Quay Lake 🌊🌙

After exploring Sunway Pyramid, I decided to walk to the next mall nearby Sunway Square Mall. The best part? You do not even need a car! There is a covered walkway connecting the malls, so after about 15 minutes of walking, I arrived at Sunway Square. Easy and fun! 🚶‍♀️

But the real gem near Sunway Square is the Sunway South Quay Lake. This is a beautiful outdoor lakeside area where locals love to come and relax and they even bring their pets! There are food stalls around the lake, so finding something to eat is easy, although finding a seat can be a little tricky because it is so popular. 😄

And the night view? Absolutely beautiful. There was even a live band performing while I was there, which made the whole atmosphere so special. 🎶

Final Thoughts 🛍️

If you are visiting Kuala Lumpur and love shopping, food, and beautiful scenery, the Sunway area is a must visit! Here is a quick summary:

  • 🏛️ Sunway Pyramid Mall : Huge, Egyptian-themed, great food, ice skating, everything you need
  • 💦 Sunway Square Mall : Impressive waterfall entrance, great shopping
  • 🌊 Sunway South Quay Lake : Beautiful lakeside area, food stalls, live music, stunning night view
  • 🚶‍♀️ Tip: How to walk from Sunway Pyramid to Sunway Square
📍 Exit Sunway Pyramid via the Canopy Walk sign.
🚶 Follow the Canopy Walk bridge past Sunway University.
➡️ Continue straight ahead along the new bridge that connects to Sunway Square Mall.
🌊 When you reach Sunway Square, you will see Sunway South Quay Lake behind/next to the mall.
This route is mostly covered and very easy to walk only about 15 minutes! 😊
